Software Consulting

Independent Software Consulting for Denver and Boulder Businesses

Senior, practical advice on AI, software, and technology decisions, from someone who has built these systems. Get a clear plan before you spend money, a straight answer about the system you already have, and technical leadership when you need it.

When it makes sense to bring in a consultant

    • You're about to spend serious money on software or a development agency and want a second opinion first.
    • Your app or website works, but nobody is sure how, and the developer who built it has moved on.
    • Everyone is talking about AI, and you don't know where it fits in your business or whether it's worth it.
    • You're raising money or selling the business, and investors are asking technical questions.
    • Your team is growing and needs technical leadership, but not a full-time CTO yet.
    • A vendor's proposal or quote looks off, and you can't tell whether it is.

    Frequently asked questions

    What does software consulting cost?

Assessments, reviews, and vendor selections are fixed-price projects, quoted after a free intro call. Fractional CTO work is a monthly retainer. Either way, you know the price before any work starts.

Do we need to be a tech company?

No. Most of our consulting clients are ordinary businesses, such as service companies, clinics, firms, and retailers, that depend on software and want an experienced, independent person to help them make good decisions about it.

Won't you just recommend your own services?

We recommend what's right for you. Often that's an off-the-shelf tool, a configuration change, or another vendor. If we think we're a good fit to build something, we'll say so separately, and you're free to take the plan to anyone.

Will you sign an NDA before looking at our code or numbers?

Yes. We're happy to sign your NDA, or provide ours, before reviewing any code, systems, or financial information.

What do we get at the end?

A written report in plain English, a prioritized list of recommendations with effort and cost estimates, and a walkthrough meeting where we answer questions from you and your team.

    Do you work in person?

Yes. We're based in the Denver–Boulder area and meet in person with local clients for interviews, workshops, and walkthroughs. We also work remotely with clients nationwide.

    Have a decision to make?
